Jopeko – Glaze

1003 decor – A copy of the Cortina decor by Jasba. The three spots (always yellow, red and blue but not necessarily in the same order) were apparently added by Jopeko to sufficiently differentiate their items from those made by Jasba and so circumnavigate the copyright regulations of the time. For more information see here.

Alaksa decor – white lava glaze over a brown base layer

Firnis Rot – I’ve seen this name applied to this glaze decor but can’t be sure that its the official company name for this decor. Firnis translates as varnish which would seem a strange decor name.

Paris decor – Jopeko also produced a wide range of forms with a distinctive thick brown/bronze fat lava glaze. This glaze often covers the base and means that the form number usually cannot be seen.

Turin decor – Red, white black decor.

Many Jopeko items have a frothy white/brown glaze with a band of gloss colour. The bands of colour can be either red, orange and green.
