Walter Gerhards used a range of clay colours and base markings which can make identification problematic. The items shown below are examples only and many more base markings exist.

Some are marked with a distinctive “Foreign Made in W-Germany” (sometimes without ‘foreign’ and also in uppercase).

W Germany and numbers are sometimes used.

In some relatively unusual cases a “WG” symbol is marked on the base.

 

Stickers/Labels

Walter Gerhards stickers are sometimes found. Some state “WG Kera Modern” leading collectors to wrongly assume a company called Kera Keramik had produced items.
